Tire Pressure (32 psi)

Normal Blood Pressure (760 mmHg)

760 mmHg = 1 atm = 101,325 Pa = 14.696 psi. Standard atmospheric pressure, also the basis for the Torr unit.

What is the difference between bar and atm?▾

1 bar = 100,000 Pa while 1 atm = 101,325 Pa. They are very close but not identical. Bar is used in industry and weather, while atm is the standard reference for atmospheric pressure.

Why is blood pressure measured in mmHg?▾

The tradition dates back to the first mercury sphygmomanometers (blood pressure monitors) which measured the height of a mercury column in millimeters. Although modern devices are digital, the unit mmHg is still used.

What is PSI?▾

PSI stands for Pounds per Square Inch (lb/in²). It is the most common pressure unit in the United States, used for tire pressure, water pressure, and industrial applications. 1 PSI = 6,894.76 Pa.
